The Ferrari 312 B2, arguably one of the most beautiful F1 cars of the early 70s, was a new design rather than an evolution of the 312 B. It came with a new squared nose cone and sides, a rear wing moved towards the tail and a typical shock absorbers and springs setup which, rather unusually, was located under the rear wing. The 12 cylinders boxer engine was rated at 470 hp.In 1971 the 312 B2 won two races, the Dutch Grand Prix and the German Grand Prix, in both cases driven by Jacky Ickx, who also won the German Grand Prix with an updated version of the car.
